Cast Resin Transformers Environmental, Climatic and Fire Behavior

Environmental (E), climatic (C) and Fire Behavior (F) classes characterize the cat resin transformer. The latest issue of IEC 60076-11:2004 Standard defines such classes:

ENVIROMENTAL
CLASS
E0 No condensation and negligible pollution (indoor installation in clean and dry ambient).
E1 Occasional condensation and moderate pollution (these conditions may occur on denergized transformers).
E2 Consistent condensation or sever pollution condition or combination of two phenomena. These conditions may occur in outdoor installation
CLIMATIC
CLASS
C1 Indoor installation. The transformer is suitable for operation at ambient temperatures not below -5°C but may be exposed during transport and storage to ambient temperature down to -25°C.
C2 Outdoor installation. The transformer is suitable for operation, transport and storage at ambient temperature down to -25°C.
FIRE
CLASS
F0 Non esiste particolare rischio d'incendio. Non sono prese delle misure particolari per limitare l'infiammabilità a parte le caratteristiche tipiche nel progetto del trasformatore. In ogni caso l'emissione di sostanze tossiche e fumi opachi deve essere ridotta al minimo.
F1 No special fire hazard is envisaged. Except the characteristics inherent to the design of the transformer, no special measurement are taken to limit flammability.


Transformers subject to fire hazard. Restricted flammability is required. Self-extinction of fire (poor burning is permitted with negligible energy consumption) shall take place within a specified time period. The emission of toxic substances and opaque smokes shall be minimized.
